Where we come out Competent, and beaten by its own stablemate for five euros more.
The S-MMA-200PI.2 is a 200 A stick inverter with an LED display and hot start, at €95. It is a perfectly sound machine, and this page would be dishonest if it did not open with the obvious point.
Its own sibling is the better buy
Stamos sells the S-MMA-250PI.2 at €100 — five euros more. That machine adds 50 A, the ability to run 4 mm (0.16 in) electrodes, and eight-meter leads instead of standard ones. There is no combination of jobs in which this machine wins at that difference. If both are in stock, buy the other one.
Where it is still the right choice
If the 250 A model is unavailable in your country — the references were verified separately, and stock differs by store — this is the same manufacturer, the same interface and the same feature set at a slightly lower ceiling. Two hundred amps runs 3.2 mm (0.13 in) electrodes without complaint, which covers most repair work in 3 to 6 mm (0.12 to 0.24 in) steel.
The display, which is not decoration
Electrode packets print a current range: a 3.2 mm (0.13 in) rutile rod wants roughly 90 to 130 A. On a machine with a numeric readout you set 110 and know what you set. On a plain dial you set a position, get a result you liked, and cannot reproduce it next week. That is the whole argument for a display on a machine this simple.
What is not published
No duty cycle at a stated temperature, no arc force, no anti-stick. Hot start is listed. Read 200 A as a ceiling.
Sources
Current, process, display and hot start come from the manufacturer’s published specification. Market availability was verified per market on the EAN; the reference was not live on the American store at the time of checking.

What it handles, and what it will not
Strengths
A readable LED display at €95, so the current you set is a number rather than a knob position
Hot start, the feature that decides whether a cold electrode lights or sticks
One reference across five markets
Compromises
No published duty cycle, arc force or anti-stick
Stick only

The questions welders ask
Should I buy this or the 250 A version?
The 250 A version, unless it is out of stock. At the time of checking the two were €95 and €100, and the dearer one adds 50 A, 4 mm (0.16 in) electrode capability and 8 m (26 ft) leads. There is no configuration in which this machine is the better buy at a €5 difference — and we would rather say so than pad out the page.
Is a display worth anything on a stick welder?
Yes, for repeatability. Electrode manufacturers print a current range on the box — say 90 to 130 A for a 3.2 mm (0.13 in) rutile rod. With a numeric display you set 110 A and know it; with a plain dial you set « about here » and rediscover it every time. It is the cheapest way to stop guessing.
