A filter-block alarm and 2.1 m (7 ft)² of media
VEVOR Solder fume extractor, 280 m³/h
The only extractor on this shelf that publishes its filter AREA and warns you when it is blocked — on a listing that calls an 11 by 17 inch box the size of a sheet of A4.
Two specifications on this listing are better than anything else on the shelf. The first is the filter area: 2.1 square meters of pleated media, published as a figure. Everything else here says “three-stage” and leaves you to guess how much of each stage there is — and media area is what decides how long an extractor runs before the airflow collapses. The second is the alarm: when the element blocks, the unit says so.
The rest is a competent mobile bench unit. A 150 W brushless motor at up to 4,500 rpm, 165 CFM or 280 m (919 ft)³/h published in both units, three speeds on one button, a noise ceiling of 63 dB, a flexible hose so the mouth can reach the arc, four wheels with two locks, and sealed metal latches on the filter housing.
Two things do not survive a careful read. There is no filter class — the three stages are a cotton pre-filter, a central HEPA element and activated carbon, with no grade on the HEPA, where the Helucidy unit on this shelf publishes H13. And the compact claim is nonsense: an 11 by 11 by 16.9 in body is described as “approximately the size of A4 paper”, which is a flat sheet 8.3 by 11.7 in. The dimensions themselves are published and correct; it is the comparison that was never checked. The unit also calls itself FL-250 in its fourth bullet while the headline claims 280 m (919 ft)³/h.
