VECTOR WELDING Paris 1000 (100 A, 400 V) review

Three-phase, 45 mm (1.77 in), and the machine on this page most likely to be stopped by your electrical supply rather than by its own limits.

Where we come out The heaviest machine here, gated by your electrical supply more than by your budget.

Nine hundred and forty-nine euros, 20 to 100 A, 400 V three phase, and 45 mm (1.77 in) of severance. It is the most capable cutter on this page and the one most readers cannot use.

The supply decides first

Three-phase power is common in workshops, farms and industrial units and rare in garages and outbuildings. There is no adaptor: a single-phase supply cannot feed a 400 V machine, and a converter capable of 100 A of plasma is a purchase in its own right. Establish what your building has before anything else on this page matters.

Where three phase is available, it brings a real advantage beyond raw current — the load is spread across three conductors, so the machine draws less per phase and behaves better under sustained cutting.

Forty-five millimeters, honestly read

That is severance: the thickest section the arc will part, leaving an edge that will need grinding before anything is welded to it. Clean cutting is meaningfully less — think 25 to 30 mm (0.98 to 1.18 in). Even discounted, that is far beyond the 80 A single-phase machines above it.

The published range starts at 20 A, which matters more than it seems: a machine that only cuts thick plate is a machine that ruins thin sheet.

Air

At 100 A the air demand is well beyond a small compressor. As with every machine on this page, cut quality is decided by air that is clean, dry and sufficient — and here, sufficient is the hard part.

Cutting current, supply, severance thickness, materials, ignition and part number come from the manufacturer’s published specification. No duty cycle is stated there, and none is invented here. Market availability was verified per market on the EAN.

What it handles, and what it will not

Strengths

  • Forty-five millimeters of severance — nothing else here is close
  • A published range from 20 A, so it is not only a thick-plate machine
  • Five markets under one reference

Compromises

  • 400 V three phase: most domestic and many small workshops cannot power it
  • €949, the most expensive machine on this page
  • Air demand at 100 A is beyond a hobby compressor

The questions welders ask

Can I run it on a single-phase supply?

No. A 400 V three-phase machine needs three-phase power, and no adaptor makes single-phase into three-phase at this power level — a rotary or electronic converter is a serious purchase in its own right. Check what your building actually has before considering this machine; in much of Europe a workshop or farm has three-phase and a garage does not.

Is 45 mm (1.77 in) a usable figure?

It is a severance figure — the thickest it will get through, leaving an edge that needs dressing. Clean cutting will be substantially less, in the region of 25 to 30 mm (0.98 to 1.18 in). Even so, that is well beyond every other machine here, and the reason to buy a three-phase cutter at all is exactly this end of the range.
