Where we come out The cheapest way to a clean edge, on small work only.
A cut, not a grind
The point of a lever shear is that it removes nothing. The metal is parted, the edge stays cool and square, and the piece does not warp. That is what makes it the right tool for panels and strip where a grinder leaves distortion and blue.
The size is the limit
One hundred and twenty-five millimeters of blade means anything longer is cut in steps, and stepped cuts leave a visible line. For strip, brackets and small patches it is enough; for a panel edge it is not.

What it handles, and what it will not
Strengths
A sheared edge needs no dressing, unlike a ground one
No power, no sparks, no noise — usable anywhere
Cheap enough to sit on a bench corner permanently
Compromises
125 mm (4.92 in) of blade means short cuts and repositioning

The questions welders ask
Why not just use an angle grinder?
Because a cutting disc grinds away metal, throws sparks, heats the edge and leaves a burr, and on thin sheet the heat distorts the panel. A shear parts the metal by cutting it: no heat, no sparks, no burr worth mentioning, and the piece stays flat. On thin material the difference is visible immediately.
What thickness will it take?
The listing does not say, and we will not invent a figure. Blade length is published; capacity is not. Buy it for small work on thin sheet, and if you need a stated thickness rating, the larger shears further down this page publish theirs.

A named steel grade at a published thickness, in a sheet big enough to cut a bracket from — and the only item in this hub that states what the metal actually is.
Best for: Brackets, repair plates and shop fixtures, where the grade and the gauge both have to be known
