There is one joint on this site that no clamp elsewhere on this shelf can hold: a pipe butt weld, where the two ends have to be concentric before the first tack or the bore steps at the seam. That is what an alignment clamp is for, and it is why a tool like this exists at this price.

What the listing does not do is describe it. Five bullets, and between them not one diameter, thickness, weight, material or dimension. The nearest approach to a number is a sentence about mass that refuses to give one: the tool is “Weighing just enough to remain sturdy yet lightweight for portability”. The manufacturer reference printed on the page is the product’s own EAN.

Set that against the rest of the shelf. A clamp at an eighth of the price publishes its capacity, its throat depth, its overall length and its thread pitch. A cast iron angle clamp publishes three jaw dimensions and its own weight. Here, the one question a buyer has — will it fit my pipe — has no answer on the page, and it is the question to settle with the seller before anything else.

The questions welders ask

What pipe sizes does it fit?

The listing does not say, and on a pipe clamp that is the whole specification. Five bullets describe precision, productivity, portability, versatility and durability without a single diameter, thickness or weight — the nearest thing to a figure is that the tool weighs "just enough to remain sturdy yet lightweight for portability". Before ordering, this is the question to put to the seller, because a pipe alignment clamp that does not fit your pipe does nothing at all.

What does an alignment clamp do that a locking clamp cannot?

Hold two pipe ends concentric. A butt weld in pipe fails when the two bores step relative to each other — high-low, in pipefitting terms — and no C-clamp or V-plier can pull two round sections into line with each other. An alignment clamp wraps the joint and forces both halves onto a common axis before the first tack. That is a real job and nothing else on this shelf attempts it.
