This is the biggest pack in this hub by a wide margin and the most precisely specified: A36T, 3 in by .035 in on a 1/4 in arbor, 25,000 rpm, for a die grinder, fiberglass reinforced, made in the USA. The designation itself carries information — A for aluminum oxide, 36 for the grit, T for a hard bond — and the listing explains what the hard bond is for: aggressive cutting on rough work.

Publishing the speed puts it among the four listings on this shelf that do. Twenty-five thousand rpm is the right order for a die grinder, which runs several times faster than an angle grinder, and the figure is the limit the wheel was tested to rather than a target.

Then the description contradicts itself about the one property that keeps a thin wheel together. The bullet and the first sentence say the wheels are “externally reinforced with fiberglass layers to provide ultimate safety in a thin wheel”. Two sentences later the same paragraph says they are “internally reinforced with the highest quality fiberglass for maximum safety”. Internal reinforcement is a mesh within the bond; external is a layer on the faces; they behave differently when a wheel binds in a cut. The text asserts both. And as on all nine American listings on this shelf, nothing is said about iron and sulfur, though the wheels are specified for stainless.

The questions welders ask

Externally or internally reinforced — which is it?

The description says both, in the same paragraph. The bullet and the first sentence state external reinforcement with fiberglass layers; two sentences later the same text says the wheels are "internally reinforced with the highest quality fiberglass". The distinction is real — internal reinforcement is a mesh buried in the bond, external is a layer on the face — and it affects how a thin wheel behaves when it binds. On a safety-relevant property, a description that says both is saying neither.

What does A36T mean?

It is a bond and grain designation. The A is aluminum oxide, 36 is the grit, and T is the grade of the bond — further down the alphabet meaning harder. A hard bond holds the grain longer, which suits aggressive cutting on rough work and glazes on anything that needs a cool cut. The listing describes it exactly that way: "a hard bond designed for aggressive cutting on rough applications". It is one of only two listings in this hub to publish a grit at all.

Is a hundred wheels sensible?

Only in production. A 3 in die grinder wheel is small, fast and consumed quickly — cutting bolt heads, weld tabs and tube in a fabrication shop will go through several a day, and at that rate a hundred is a few months. For occasional use, the same money buys several hundred 4-1/2 in angle grinder discs on this shelf, which is a different tool for a different job.
