This is the cheapest way onto this shelf and it is honest about what that buys: seven tool holders, seven inserts, a 12 mm (0.47 in) shank, a box. The count in the title matches the contents, which on this shelf is not guaranteed — two listings here describe twenty-nine items under a heading of twenty-one.

Seven holders is the right number. Between them they cover external turning both hands, facing, boring, grooving and threading, which is everything a bench lathe is asked to do, and buying them as a set costs a fraction of buying them one at a time.

What is missing is the information you need the second time. Not one holder designation appears on the page, and no insert designation either — so when an edge chips, the replacement has to be identified by measuring the pocket rather than reading the holder. Every other multi-holder set on this shelf names its seven; the Accusize set names each holder and the insert that belongs in it. Nothing is said about rake geometry either, which this hub’s buying tip makes the first question for a light machine.

The questions welders ask

Why do the holder designations matter?

Because they are how you buy inserts. A holder marked SCLCR1212H06 tells you the shank is 12 by 12 mm (0.47 in), the insert is a C-type 80-degree rhombic at 06 size, and the hand is right — so the replacement insert is a CCMT06 and nothing else. Without the designation you are matching inserts by eye. Six listings on this shelf publish all seven designations; this one publishes none, which is the real cost of the lowest price here.

Seven inserts or fourteen?

Seven, which the title states plainly: "14PCS" being seven holders and seven inserts. Four sets on this shelf supply fourteen inserts with seven holders, so each holder has a spare edge in reserve. An indexable insert has several usable corners, so one insert is not one cut — but it is one accident.
