An oscillating tool does one thing no saw on this shelf can: it cuts flush. The blade sweeps a degree or two at a few thousand cycles a minute, so it can lie flat against a floor, a frame or a panel and take a nail or a hardened screw off level with the surface — and it works in a cavity where a reciprocating saw has no room to stroke.

Carbide teeth are what make it useful on metal. A bi-metal oscillating blade is defeated almost immediately by a hardened screw, which is the very thing you reach for the tool to cut; laser-welded carbide teeth survive it. EZARC claims thirty times the life of bi-metal, which is a figure with no test behind it, and names the materials the blades are for: stainless, hardened screws and nails, fiberglass, plasterboard.

Two things to note before ordering. The listing publishes no blade width, no cut depth and no tooth pitch, which on an oscillating blade are the dimensions that decide what it reaches. And it is explicit about the mount: not Starlock, not Starlock Plus, not Starlock Max, with two adapters supplied for the conventional patterns instead. That single sentence is worth more than most of the specifications missing from this page.

The questions welders ask

What can an oscillating blade do that a recip blade cannot?

Cut flush, and cut in a space with no room to swing. An oscillating tool moves its blade a degree or two at high frequency, so it can be laid flat against a surface and cut a nail or screw off level with it, or work in a cavity where a reciprocating saw has nowhere to stroke. Nothing else on this shelf does either. What it cannot do is cut quickly or deeply.

Why does the Starlock note matter?

Because a mount that does not fit is the commonest wasted purchase in this category. Starlock is the Bosch-led interface used by several brands, and it is deliberately not interchangeable with the older universal patterns. EZARC states the exclusion in capitals — "Not compatible with Starlock, Starlock plus, Starlock max system tool" — and supplies two adapters for the conventional mounts instead. Of the nine American listings on this shelf, this is the only one to name a mount system it refuses.
