Of the kits on this shelf, this is the one you can check before buying. Every item is given by its original part number: nozzles 169726, contact tips 00-068, tip adapters 169-728, nozzle adapters 169-729. Those numbers go straight to a Miller parts diagram, and that removes the guesswork that otherwise surrounds aftermarket consumables.

The contents go further forward than usual too. Twenty tips and two nozzles are standard; the two tip adapters and two nozzle adapters are not. Those are the pieces between the gun’s diffuser and the consumables, they wear and get spatter-welded like everything else at the front of a torch, and a gun that has started leaking gas or dropping its nozzle is often one of them rather than the tip everyone changes first.

It fits Miller Millermatic M-25 and M-40 guns and the Hobart H gun, on 0.035 in wire — and nothing on the European half of this shelf, where MB15 and MB25 are a different thread. The last bullet asks you to verify compatibility from the listing photographs and stops mid-word, which given how precisely the rest of the page is written is a surprise.

The questions welders ask

Why do part numbers beat descriptions?

Because a nozzle described as "5/8 inch" could be any of several lengths and recess depths, and the recess — how far the tip sits back inside the nozzle — changes the arc. A part number is unambiguous: 169726 is one nozzle and no other. This listing gives the number for every piece in the box, which means each one can be checked against a Miller parts diagram before ordering. No other consumable kit on this shelf does that.

What are the two adapters for?

They are the parts between the gun’s gas diffuser and the consumables. The tip adapter carries the contact tip; the nozzle adapter carries the nozzle and seats the insulation. Both wear and both get spatter-welded eventually, and most kits leave them out — so a gun that will not seal at the front is often an adapter rather than a tip. Having two of each means the whole front end can be rebuilt.
