Where we come out Seventy dollars for the first of the three safety features. Worth the step up from the €46 machines.
Seventy dollars, 800 W — and the first machine on this page with protection against unintended restart.
Why this is the feature to buy first
Angle grinders are left plugged in. The switch gets locked on, the breaker trips, someone reconnects the extension lead — and a tool with a 125 mm (4.92 in) disc starts by itself, on a bench, on the floor, or in a hand that was not expecting it. Restart protection latches the switch off until it is deliberately cycled.
It costs the manufacturer very little and it is absent from the three cheaper machines on this page. If you buy one thing above the entry level, buy this.
Soft start, and what it protects
Going from rest to 11,800 rpm instantly produces a reaction torque that twists the machine in your hand. Soft start ramps it over a fraction of a second — easier on your wrist, easier on the gears, and one less way to lose control of a running disc.
What is published beyond that
Epoxy-coated motor windings and a fully ball-bearing gearbox. Those are durability claims rather than performance ones, and they are the sort of detail that separates a professional line from a DIY one.
What is still missing
No brake — the disc coasts for several seconds after release — and no kickback detection. Both appear further down this page.

What it handles, and what it will not
Strengths
Restart protection at €70 — the cheapest on this page to have it
Soft start, so the tool does not twist out of your hand on switch-on
Epoxy-coated windings and a fully ball-raced gearbox, both published
Compromises
No brake: the disc still free-spins after release
No kickback detection
800 W will slow in heavy cutting

The questions welders ask
What exactly does restart protection prevent?
A grinder whose paddle or slide switch is locked on, plugged into a socket, will start the instant power returns — after a tripped breaker, an extension lead reconnected, or a site supply coming back. That means a live tool on a bench, on the floor, or in your hand before you are ready. The protection latches the switch off until you cycle it deliberately.
Is soft start a comfort feature or a safety one?
Both, and mostly safety. A grinder going from nothing to 11,800 rpm in an instant delivers a reaction torque that twists the body in your hand — enough to pull it off the work or out of a one-handed grip. Ramping the speed over a fraction of a second removes that jolt, and it is also easier on the gearbox.
