Einhell TC-BG 150 review

The plain version of a machine sold in three sizes — buy it knowing what the extra €20 adds.

Where we come out Cheap and adequate, from a listing that tells you almost nothing.

Forty-six euros for a 150 mm (5.91 in) bench grinder from a brand with real European spares. What the listing does not do is tell you much about it.

What is published

The wheel diameter, and a list of uses: derusting, deburring, grinding, light repairs and resharpening cutting edges. That is the whole specification. No wattage, no speed, no grit, no bearing type.

We reproduce that as it stands. Where a manufacturer publishes nothing, this page does not fill the gap with figures from a similar machine — and the honest consequence is that a €40 Güde further up this page tells you more about itself than a €46 Einhell does.

The size is the good decision

One hundred and fifty millimeters is the standard bench grinder wheel, which means replacement wheels — coarse, fine, white for tool steel, wire brush, felt for polishing — are available everywhere at low cost. Buying into the common size is worth more over a decade than any single feature.

Its own sibling at €66

The TC-BG 150 B publishes a 350 W motor and ships with a brush wheel. If you are buying a bench grinder mainly to take rust off, that is the version to look at: the brush would otherwise be a separate order.

Sources

Wheel diameter and the list of applications come from the manufacturer’s published specification, which is unusually sparse for this model. No power or speed figure is stated there, and none is invented here. Market availability was verified per market on the EAN.

What it handles, and what it will not

Strengths

  • The commonest wheel size, so replacements are everywhere
  • Einhell spares are widely stocked in Europe

Compromises

  • The listing publishes almost nothing — no wattage, no speed, no grit
  • No brush wheel and no work light, both of which the €66 version adds
  • Same wheel caveat as every machine in this class

The questions welders ask

Why is 150 mm (5.91 in) the size to buy?

Because it is the commonest, so wheels — coarse, fine, white aluminum oxide, wire brush, felt — are available everywhere and cheaply. A 125 mm (4.92 in) machine limits your choice and a 200 mm (7.87 in) one costs more per wheel. If you expect to change wheels for different jobs, 150 mm (5.91 in) is the size with the deepest shelf behind it.

How does it compare with the TC-BG 150 B at €66?

The B version publishes a 350 W motor and includes a brush wheel for rust and paint removal. This one publishes neither a wattage nor a brush. If your work is derusting — which is most people’s — the twenty dollars buys a wheel you would otherwise order separately, and a motor figure you can compare.

Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 50.

The figure is a floor, rounded by Amazon, and read through Keepa — it says what buyers picked, not what a maker claims.
