IPOTOOLS SUPERTIG 200DI review

The top of this page: a fully digital 200 A AC/DC machine with stick as well, and seven years behind it.

Where we come out The safest buy on the page if you weld aluminum regularly — and the one that documents least for its price.

At €570 the SUPERTIG 200DI is the most expensive machine on this page, and the case for it is a long-lived reference plus a real importer, rather than a longer specification sheet.

What is published

Two hundred amps on both alternating and direct current, HF start, MMA as a third process, and a fully digital control built on a 32-bit microprocessor. Seven-year warranty from IPO Technik-Handels GmbH in Friedrichshafen, with a street address.

What is not

No duty cycle at a stated temperature. No AC frequency range, no AC balance range, no pulse frequency figures. That is a genuine gap at this price — the same importer’s TIG-200ACDC, €110 cheaper, publishes pulse ranges from 0.1 Hz and an AC frequency from 20 to 100 Hz. On the numbers alone, the cheaper machine is the better documented one.

The argument for it anyway

The reference has been live and supported for years. In a category where listings appear and vanish inside a season, a machine that has been sold long enough to accumulate a service history — and an importer that has kept it in the catalog — is a form of evidence that no specification line carries. If you weld aluminum regularly and want the machine to be a decision you stop thinking about, that is what you are paying the extra for.

One availability note

The reference resolves on the German, French, Italian and Spanish stores, and was absent from the American and British ones at the time of checking. Readers there are sent to a local search.

Sources

Current, processes, control and warranty come from the manufacturer’s published specification. No duty cycle, AC frequency or pulse range is stated there, and none is invented here. Market availability was verified per market on the EAN.

What it handles, and what it will not

Strengths

  • Full 200 A on AC as well as DC, digitally controlled
  • Seven-year warranty from a named German importer with a published address
  • A long-lived reference — this one has been on the market for years, which is its own signal

Compromises

  • €570, which is roughly two of the entry AC/DC machines on this page
  • Not sold on the American or British markets at the time of checking
  • No published duty cycle, and no AC frequency range in the listing

The questions welders ask

What separates this from the €459 machine two rows up?

Twenty amps, a longer track record and, on paper, very little else that is published. The TIG-200ACDC states its AC frequency and pulse ranges; this one does not. If the numbers are what you are buying, the cheaper machine documents more of them. If a long-standing reference from the same importer matters more, this is the one that has been sold and supported for years.

Is a seven-year warranty on a welder realistic?

It is realistic in the sense that the company publishes a name and a registered address in Germany, so the term is enforceable. What it does not promise is that a machine used commercially every day will last seven years without a repair. Read it as a statement about the seller’s willingness to be found, which in this category is worth more than it sounds.
