Matched drills are the feature

Everything else in the box is the same as the €67 set. What you are paying for is that the correct drill is next to the correct tap, permanently.

Keep the chart anyway

Sets get separated from their cases. A printed tapping drill chart on the workshop wall costs nothing and outlives any box.

The questions welders ask

Is the drill really worth double the price?

It is if it prevents one broken tap in a finished part. Removing a snapped tap from an aluminum casting is an afternoon with a carbide burr and a great deal of swearing; a matched drill removes the guesswork that causes it. If you tap often and own a good drill set, the cheaper kit is the rational buy.

Why does hole size matter so much?

Because thread engagement rises steeply as the hole shrinks. A hole 0.3 mm (0.01 in) undersize gives a thread that is barely stronger but demands far more torque to cut — which is exactly what snaps small taps. Full-depth threads are rarely necessary: around 70% engagement is the practical optimum.
