Einhell TE-BD 750 E review

An induction motor and a table that tilts and swivels — the pillar drill you buy to stop thinking about it.

Where we come out The long-term choice: quiet motor, adjustable table, and nothing on it that wears out fast.

Built to run

An induction motor and a ball-bearing spindle are both « boring » specifications that decide how a machine feels after five years. Neither shows in a photograph; both are what separate a press used weekly from one used daily.

The table

Height, tilt and swivel. Angled holes are where a fixed table forces improvisation, and improvisation on a drill press is how work spins. Being able to set the angle on the machine and clamp normally is the safer route as well as the more accurate one.

What it handles, and what it will not

Strengths

  • An induction motor: quiet, brushless, and it holds speed under load
  • A table that tilts and swivels, so angled holes do not need a jig
  • Live on all six markets under one reference

Compromises

  • €370 — the most expensive of the European drill presses here
  • Floor-standing machines take floor space a bench press does not
  • No quill travel published

The questions welders ask

What does an induction motor bring to a drill press?

The same as on a bench grinder: no brushes to wear or spark, markedly quieter running, and speed that holds when the bit loads up. On a machine used daily that is a durability and comfort argument, and the noise difference alone is noticeable in a small workshop.

Is a tilting table worth having?

If you ever drill at an angle, yes. The alternative is a wedge or an angle plate under the work, which is another thing to hold and another way for the piece to move. A table that tilts and swivels lets the machine hold the angle while the vice holds the work — two clamps instead of a balancing act.
