The part nobody suspects

Feeding problems get blamed on the machine, then the wire, then the rollers. The swan neck is rarely examined, and a kinked one is a permanent drag on the wire.

The questions welders ask

How does a torch neck cause problems?

The wire runs through a liner inside it, and the neck holds that liner in a gentle curve. Bend the neck — dropping the torch, hanging it over a sharp edge, standing on the cable — and the curve becomes a kink. The wire then drags at that point, the feed becomes erratic, and every adjustment at the machine fails to fix it.

Is it worth replacing the neck rather than the torch?

Usually, on a small machine. A complete MB15 torch costs several times this set, and the neck is the part that fails first. If the cable and switch are sound, replacing the neck restores the feed path for a fraction of the price.
