STAHLWERK

The catalogue brand of German welding — broad, cheap and everywhere

What they are good at

Breadth and value. STAHLWERK sells a machine at almost every price point on this site, and the specifications are usually fuller than rivals at the same price — the CUT 50 P publishes three cut thicknesses by material where competitors publish none, and the MIG/MAG 160 M publishes a current range starting at 20 A rather than only a ceiling.

Where they cut corners

Duty cycle. Almost no STAHLWERK listing on this site states a duty cycle at a stated temperature, which is the figure that turns a maximum current into a working one. Their machines also appear under several near-identical listings — we found two live references for the same MIG/MAG 160 M at €80 apart, and four TIG references live on five markets with no price at all.

What to check before buying

That the reference you are looking at is actually offered, and not simply listed. On this site every product was verified per market, and the STAHLWERK range is where that check most often changed the outcome.
