WELDINGER WE 200P ACDC eco review

The only machine here that publishes a current range starting at 10 A — and the lightest AC/DC on the page at 9.5 kg (20.9 lb).

Where we come out The most portable AC/DC machine on this page, and the only one that publishes where its arc starts.

Four hundred and sixty dollars, AC/DC, HF start, pulse, spot, 2T/4T — and two figures that separate it from everything above: a current range that starts at 10 A, and a weight of 9.5 kg (20.9 lb).

The bottom of the range

Every machine on this page reaches roughly 200 A, and that number is limited more by your socket than by the inverter. The interesting figure is the other end. A published minimum of 10 A on TIG means the arc is designed to be stable when it is barely there — which is what you need to weld thin stainless, to fill a pinhole without eating the surrounding metal, or to tack foil-gauge sheet. Machines that publish only a maximum have generally not been engineered for that end of the range.

MMA is quoted separately at 10 to 170 A, which is the honest way to do it: an inverter rarely delivers the same range on both processes.

Portable, and that is deliberate

At 9.5 kg (20.9 lb) it is three kilos lighter than the AC/DC machines of similar output earlier on this page. That is the difference between a bench machine and one you take to the work — up a ladder, into a car, out to a gate. Forced-air cooling comes with it, and it is the one place the specification goes soft: the maker says « high duty cycle » without publishing a percentage or a temperature. We would rather have the number.

The rest

VRD, hot start and arc force on the stick side; pulse and spot on the TIG side; HF start throughout. Nothing exotic, all of it useful, all of it published.

Sources

Current ranges, processes, modes, MMA features, cooling and weight come from the manufacturer’s published specification. No duty cycle percentage is stated there, and none is invented here. Market availability was verified per market on the EAN.

What it handles, and what it will not

Strengths

  • A published lower limit of 10 A — the figure that decides what you can do on foil-thin stainless
  • 9.5 kg (20.9 lb), so it travels, unlike the 12.7 kg (28 lb) machines at the same output
  • Live on all six markets, with a stated five-year WELDINGER warranty

Compromises

  • « High duty cycle » is claimed without a number, which is the one place the sheet goes vague
  • €460 is mid-range money for a machine described as « eco »
  • No published AC balance or frequency range

The questions welders ask

Why does a 10 A minimum matter?

Because the thin end is where a machine’s limits show. At 20 A you can weld 1 mm (0.04 in) stainless with care; at 10 A you can weld foil-gauge material and fill a pinhole without blowing the edge away. Maximum current is limited by your supply, and almost every machine here reaches 200 A. The bottom of the range is what the manufacturer actually had to engineer.

Does 9.5 kg (20.9 lb) change anything in practice?

It changes where the machine lives. Three kilos is the difference between a welder you carry up a ladder or into a car and one that stays on a bench. For repair work away from the workshop — a gate hinge, a bracket on a machine that cannot be moved — it is the specification that decides whether the job happens at all.
